How do i get a custom knife?

Hi! Signups for custom orders are now open. From now on my custom orders are done through a random draw. This means that by signing up, you enter a pool of participants of which i draw several names every month. These names will get a custom knife. Signup for the custom orders is a mailing list to which you can unsubscribe at any time. The signup is below. Signing up to this mailing list does NOT mean you are entitled to a custom knife just yet, simply that you are in the drawing pool. I will limit the drawing pool to 75 participants as to not obliterate chances of getting picked. As names are drawn/as folks drop out, new spots to the drawing pool open up automatically.

I will draw names 2 months in advance, so that you as a customer have enough time to sort out finances etc.

Below is a price calculator to form the rough idea of the custom order. Please use the calculator before signing up to get an idea of what your order will be and what it will cost.

FYI, unfortunately I currently cannot offer the starry night finish for custom orders.

Custom order Q&A
Are the specs in the calculator the only options?

The calculator is meant to get a rough custom idea started. Most specs that are not listed can be discussed with me if you have/get a custom slot. If you have any specific wishes i am happy to discuss those. The price is just an indication and not binding. I will let you know the final price of the custom order before starting and paying the deposit.

How much is the deposit?
The deposit can be chosen by the customer. It is at least 25%, but can also be 50% or 100%. Whatever suits you best. The initial deposit is paid before I start working on the custom, and the final amount is paid for upon completion. I will not ship a knife until the total amount has been paid for. After payment of the deposit is made, 25% of the total order amount is non refundable, due to me having started the process of making your blade.
What happens after my name is chosen in the draw?
After your name is drawn I will contact you via email to finalize the order. We then discuss all specs and special request. After a final price is agreed on I will send an invoice for the deposit. After the deposit is paid for I will start making the knife, after which it should be done rather quickly. After the deposit is paid for there is no more long wait times.
What is the custom order system?
From now on, custom orders are taken on a monthly basis. Each month i will take as many customs as I see fit. This ensures a quick turnaround for you, as well as clarity. For me it gives more flexibility and less pressure of standing orders.
I've registered into the custom drawing pool, but I would like to back out. How do i do this?
Before every drawing, I send out an email in advance. This warns anyone in the custom drawing pool that they are in for the draw. Should you want to back out, simply unsubscribe from the email. This will remove you from the drawing pool.
If this doesnt work, you can always reach me by DM on Instagram or through email at hardentknives@gmail.com to manually remove you from the drawing pool.
My name was drawn for a custom order, does that mean I'm obligated to pay now?

No, until a deposit has been paid there is no binding agreement and you can still back out. I don't mind if you do. If you do back out but wish to stay in the draw, you can be added back to the drawing pool.

Can the same person keep getting drawn for custom spots?

No, anyone who gets drawn and orders a knife will be removed from the drawing pool. This keeps things fair for everyone.

Is the draw timing guaranteed to be once a month?

Unfortunately not. I'm still slightly uncertain of the exact timing, and because both delays and speed-ups can happen in my planning the drawings will happen dynamically. I'm still a one man show and i can't see into the future.

In any case, participants are notified beforehand of a drawing.
